Home Sweet Home

We finally made it, we are home! When I spoke with Jacob this morning and found out Harper's bilirubin had gone back up, I thought for sure we would not be coming home today. Of course, I will always want what is in her best interest but I was also wearing down myself. I walked in just in time to see the doctor making his rounds. He hadn't been to our room just yet and the anticipation was building. Hayden had walked in and began to pray silently for his baby sister to be able to come home. Taking a cue from her big brother, Hadley asked if she could pray for all of us. We joined hands and Hadley broke out with, "God is good, God is great, Let us thank Him for our food..." It happened to be the most perfect prayer at the most perfect time.
Jacob also told me Harper passed her hearing test, which was retaken in the middle of the night. It was wonderful news but not as wonderful, at the time, as the news we were about to receive from the doctor. He walked in and immediately asked us if we were ready to go home. We both laughed and looking at each other and said a collective, YES! He said that was good because we were going home! I was so overwhelmed with emotion and I just couldn't hide it. Her bilirubin was up but not enough to keep us any longer. He also went on to ask where we went to church. Jacob told him, Bryant First UMC, and then the doctor said something I don't think I will ever forget. He said he knew we had amazing faith and he described our faith as a glow we exuded which was so blinding, he needed shades to look at us. Wow, what higher compliment could we have ever received than to be told one could witness our faith like that. He also told us he knew we had an amazing support system but we, her family, were her biggest support system. He told us he had been doing this for a long time and he saw something very rare in us. I can't think of a better way to have ended such a tumultuous week. It is and only was through our faith we were able to keep going. We also found such strength and comfort in all of the prayers from our friends and family. We have only closed one window and have now opened a door leading into a life which will forever be filled with new experiences and challenges. We thank you all for following our story for the past week and hope you continue as I know the Lord is working within this family and I can't wait to see what all He has planned for us! Some of God's greatest gifts, we never could have seen coming. Praise be to God!
